Layering & Curing

THE HEART OF YUN-DE

Time is our most vital medium. After curing, we de gloss the surface with a fine abrasive brick (Cotton) to create micro tooth for the next layer. This phase cannot be rushed. It is the rhythmic, repetitive process of application and resting that transforms raw sap into a medium of lasting resilience.

Fine Layering

The prepared lacquer is applied to the leveled body in exceptionally fine coats. Each layer is smoothed onto the surface with exacting precision, carefully working to prevent air or impurities from being trapped beneath.

The Yun Dike (Curing Room)

After each coat, the piece is laid to rest in a warm, humid, and entirely dust-free environment. Unlike paint, natural lacquer does not "dry"; it cures by drawing in moisture from the air, a slow chemical reaction that requires a controlled climate.

The Cycle of Resonance

This cycle—apply, cure, wait—repeats many times. With every iteration, the body grows denser, harder, and deeply resonant, finally achieving the flawless, glass-like state ready for detailed engraving.
